Philosophy of Epworth’s Daycare and Preschool

The educational philosophy of this center is based on meeting the developmental needs of children. The work of Plaget and Erickson provide the theoretical framework on which the programs are planned to meet the needs of each individual child.

The developmental program is based on that growth in a sequential and orderly process. Children do indeed pass through stages of development which occur in a recognized sequence in their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth. Our responsibility in a developmental program is to assist the child in growing to their fullest potential by recognizing each stage of development, and developing a curriculum that will nurture and facilitate growth during that stage.
